Singtel’s new flagship store at 313@somerset champions sustainability features such as its use of upcycled furniture and fabric from its previous location. It also makes its uniforms with natural dye inks and handwoven fabrics. Inside the store is a vertical farming installation where produce is harvested and donated to the community. On the outside are e-waste recycling bins for unwanted electronic products, which will be refurbished and distributed to low-income families and seniors.
Palais Renaissance, owned and managed by City Developments Limited (CDL), is one of the first few buildings on Orchard Road to have been awarded the BCA Green Mark Gold Plus Super Low Energy award based on the Green Mark 2021 (GM: 2021), an achievement given the high standards required for an existing building. The SLE criteria is for the best-in-class performing Green Mark Building that achieves at least 60% energy savings above 2005 building codes which is being used as the anchor reference for Green Mark energy savings. To become more energy efficient as a country, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) launched the BCA Green Mark Scheme in 2005 to encourage the development of more environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings.
